Since 1985, Round House Manor has been providing affordable housing to its residents using funds from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. Rents are based on income, minus medical expenses. All utilities are included in the rent, so residents pay 30% of their adjusted gross income and usually only have a phone or cable bill to pay for out of pocket. The property is located on the Fox River and is surrounded by both the Kaukauna Fire and Police Departments and Ghost Town Fitness. The Nelson Family Trail begins one block down the street.
With amenities such as grab bars, high rise toilets, security cameras, locked entry system, on-site laundry, community spaces, raised garden boxes, a library, building wide Wi-Fi, and more, Round House Manor has a little bit of everything to suit the needs of today’s population.
A person must be 62+ or 18+ with a disability to live at Round House Manor. There are a handful of apartments designed for persons with special modification requirements such as lowered cabinets in the kitchen, more open space to accommodate a walker or wheelchair, and a more spacious bathroom for specialized equipment needs.
A service coordinator is on-site to assist with finding solutions to the needs that arise in the residents’ lives. Finding money savings solutions, enrolling them in county or state assistance programs, working with families to be sure that their loved one is safe in their apartment, offering educational opportunities, and finding ways for the residents to give back to the community are just a few of the things that a service coordinator can do. Because Round House Manor is independent living, the staff do not provide direct services, as residents can bring in whatever assistance they need to stay safe and healthy at home.
